Interior & Exterior Painting in Conroe and the Greater Houston Area

Paint is the fastest way to transform a home, and the easiest place for a contractor to cut corners. Palacios Construction Group delivers interior, exterior, and cabinet painting for homeowners and businesses across Conroe, Willis, the Lake Conroe area, and greater Houston. Our work splits roughly evenly between whole-home interior repaints, full exterior and siding refreshes, and commercial projects, and every one of them is done with premium products and real preparation. The same square footage can produce a flawless finish that lasts a decade or a streaky one that peels in two years, and almost all of that difference is decided by the crew, not the can.

Family-Owned Since 1985

Owner Joel Palacios is on every project and backs the work with a one-year warranty.

We use Sherwin-Williams coatings exclusively, because in our heat, sun, and humidity, the paint itself is the difference between a finish that lasts and one that fades in a few years. For cabinets, we deliver a true factory-grade finish: we remove the doors and drawer fronts and spray them in our shop under controlled conditions, then mask and spray the boxes on-site with professional airless and HVLP equipment, so you get a smooth, durable result with zero brush strokes.

We are a family company that has built in Texas since 1985, and owner Joel Palacios is involved in every project. One call reaches a real person, the estimate is free and in writing, color consultation is available through our Sherwin-Williams rep at no charge, and the work is backed by a one-year warranty.

Why Paint Jobs Succeed or Fail

Three Things That Decide How Long Your Paint Lasts

Anyone can roll paint on a wall. Making it look flawless and last for years is a different job, and it comes down to three things that cheaper painters skip to win on price.

01

1. The preparation

Prep is the unglamorous work that decides everything, and it is the first thing a low bid cuts. Cleaning, scraping, sanding, caulking, patching, and priming the right surfaces are what let paint actually bond and lay down smoothly. We do the full prep every time, because a beautiful coat over a bad surface peels, cracks, and disappoints within a season or two. It is also the part you cannot see once the job is done, which is exactly why it is so tempting for a cheap painter to skip and so important that we never do.

02

2. The paint

In our climate, the product matters enormously. Builder-grade paint visibly chalks and fades on south and west walls within a few years, while premium coatings hold their color and protect the surface far longer. We use Sherwin-Williams exclusively and match the right product to each job, which is why our finishes still look new years after the work is done. The little saved per gallon on cheap paint is quickly erased by a repaint years sooner than necessary, so premium coatings are the more economical choice over the life of the finish.

03

3. The application

How paint goes on is the difference between a finish you admire and one you tolerate. Our cabinet work is sprayed, not brushed, with the doors finished in our shop and the boxes masked and sprayed on-site, for a glass-smooth, factory-grade result. On walls and exteriors, the right number of coats, applied properly in the right conditions, is what delivers even color and lasting coverage.

Our Process, Start to Finish

Painting Project Works

From the first walkthrough to the final coat, our process keeps the colors, the prep, and the price clear before we start.

01

1. Your call reaches a real person

You reach Joel or his wife directly. We learn what you want painted, inside, outside, or cabinets, and a working budget, then schedule a time to see the space.

02

2. On-site estimate and color help

Joel walks the space, assesses the surfaces and the prep they need, and gives you a written quote. If you want help with color, our Sherwin-Williams rep offers a free color consultation to take the guesswork out of it.

03

3. A clear written estimate

You receive a written estimate with no hidden fees, honored for up to three months, with the surfaces, prep, products, and number of coats laid out clearly.

04

4. Surface preparation

We protect your floors, furniture, and landscaping, then do the full prep, cleaning, scraping, sanding, caulking, patching, and priming, so the paint bonds and lays down smoothly.

05

5. Painting

We apply Sherwin-Williams coatings in the right number of coats for even, lasting color. For cabinets, we remove the doors and drawer fronts to spray in our shop, then mask and spray the boxes on-site for a factory-grade finish.

06

6. Cleanup and inspection

We clean up the site, remove our masking and protection, and walk the work with a careful eye for clean lines, full coverage, and a flawless finish, touching up anything that needs it.

07

7. Final walkthrough and warranty

We walk through the finished project with you and make sure you love it. Our workmanship is backed by a one-year warranty, and your quote was honored throughout.

Painting Pricing

How Painting Is Priced

Painting is priced by scope, surface area, the prep involved, and the products, so a single room and a whole-home exterior are very different projects. Your exact price comes in a free written estimate.

Free on-site estimate

We do not charge for estimates. Joel looks at the surfaces and the prep they need, talks through colors and products, and gives you a written quote at no cost and no obligation.

Typical project range

Painting projects range widely, from a single focused job to a full-home exterior, a complete cabinet refinishing, or a commercial project. Where yours lands depends on the square footage, the surfaces, the prep required, and the number of coats. Because the variables differ so much from job to job, an on-site look at the actual surfaces is the only way to give you a number you can rely on.

What moves the price

The biggest drivers are the size of the job, how much prep and repair the surfaces need, whether it is interior, exterior, or cabinet work, and the products. Heavy prep on a weathered exterior, multiple colors, and detailed cabinet spraying all add to the investment, and we lay each one out clearly so you can decide what fits your budget.

A factory-grade cabinet refinish

Local Conditions in Montgomery County

Why Paint Is Chosen Differently Around Lake Conroe

Our sun, humidity, and housing all shape how a paint job should be prepped, what products it needs, and how long it lasts. These are the realities we work around.

Intense sun and UV fade

South and west elevations in our area take brutal UV, and builder-grade exterior paint chalks and fades on them within a few years. Premium Sherwin-Williams exterior coatings are formulated to hold their color and protect the surface far longer under that load, which is exactly why we do not compromise on the product for an exterior job. You can usually spot the difference from the street, where a quality repaint still looks crisp while a cheap one has gone chalky and uneven on the sunny side of the house.

Humidity and mildew

Our Gulf Coast humidity grows mildew on shaded north and east walls, and paint applied without the right prep and primer fails fast in that environment. We prep and prime properly and choose coatings suited to the moisture, so the finish resists mildew and stays clean instead of streaking within a year. A mildew-resistant approach and proper priming on those elevations keep the paint looking clean instead of spotting and streaking after the first humid summer.

Brick and masonry homes

Painting brick and masonry, like the limewash and full-brick repaints popular around here, is a specialty that goes wrong when it is rushed. Masonry has to be cleaned and primed correctly so the coating bonds and the wall can still breathe. Done right, as on the brick home we painted that still looks new, it is a dramatic and durable transformation. It is also effectively permanent, so getting the prep and primer right the first time is what separates a stunning transformation from an expensive mistake.

Different siding substrates

Homes in our area wear fiber-cement, engineered wood, stucco, and brick, and each takes paint differently. The prep and primer that work on Hardie are not the same as what brick or stucco needs. We match the preparation and products to your actual substrate, which is what keeps the paint adhered through our humidity and heat.

Year-round painting and surface temperature

Our mild winters let us paint year-round, but the Texas sun heats south and west walls past the point where paint can flash-dry and finish poorly if you are not careful. We time exterior work and manage surfaces so the coating cures properly rather than skinning over in the heat.

Storm prep and exterior upkeep

In a region that sees hurricanes and heavy storms, exterior paint is also protection, sealing, and shielding wood, trim, and siding from water intrusion. A fresh, well-prepped exterior with caulked seams holds up better to the weather, and we treat exterior repaints as both a look and a layer of defense.

Older homes and careful handling

Historic and mid-century homes in Conroe, Montgomery, and Huntsville often have older coatings, and disturbing paint on a pre-1978 home calls for care. We handle older surfaces thoughtfully and will talk you through the right approach for your specific home before any prep begins.

In Practice

Finishes That Still Look New

Here is how our painting work shows up for real customers in our area.

A brick home exterior that was finished early

Nicholas M. hired us to repaint his entire home, including the brick, and we finished the job three days early. As we tell it, we painted the whole house and the brick, and to this day it still looks new. Brick and masonry painting done right, with the proper prep and primer, is some of the most durable exterior work there is, and this project is a favorite example of it. (Customer testimonial) Finishing ahead of schedule on a full exterior is rare, and doing it without sacrificing the prep or the finish quality is exactly the standard we hold ourselves to.

A factory-grade cabinet refinish

A representative project for us is refinishing tired kitchen cabinets without replacing them. We remove the doors and drawer fronts, spray them in our shop under controlled conditions, and mask and spray the boxes on-site, delivering a smooth, durable, furniture-quality finish for a fraction of the cost of new cabinets. It is one of the highest-value updates a kitchen can get.

A whole-home interior repaint

Another typical project is a full interior repaint, walls, ceilings, trim, and doors, often as part of a move-in or a refresh. The work is in the prep, and the clean lines, and the result is a home that feels brand new without a single wall being moved. We protect everything, do the full prep, and leave the home cleaner than we found it.

The Expertise Behind the Work

What Sets Our Painting Apart

A great paint job is equal parts product knowledge, preparation, and application. Here is the expertise behind ours.

Sherwin-Williams, matched to the job

We use Sherwin-Williams exclusively and choose the right product line for each application, durable exterior coatings built for our UV and humidity on siding, and a tough urethane trim enamel that cures hard for cabinets and trim. Using premium products and the right one for the surface is the single biggest reason our finishes outlast the builder-grade work down the street. Joel also carries contractor pricing with Sherwin-Williams, so you get premium, professional-grade products without paying a premium markup for them.

Factory-grade cabinet spraying

Cabinet painting is where craftsmanship is most evident. We remove every door and drawer front and finish them in our shop, where we can prep, prime, and spray under controlled, dust-free conditions. For the boxes that stay in place, we run a rigorous masking and containment protocol and spray them on-site with professional airless and HVLP equipment. The result is a smooth, durable, brush-stroke-free finish that looks factory-applied. A sprayed, factory-grade cabinet finish gives a kitchen the look of brand-new cabinetry for a fraction of the cost, which makes it one of the highest-return updates in the whole house.

Preparation that makes paint last

Most paint failures are prep failures. We clean, scrape, sand, caulk, patch, and prime the surfaces that need it before a drop of finish paint goes on. On exteriors especially, that preparation is what lets premium paint bond and survive our sun, rain, and humidity for the long haul, rather than peeling at the first weather swing. Skipping a single step, painting over a dirty or glossy surface, or failing to prime bare spots, is enough to undo an otherwise expensive job, which is why we are methodical about it.

Brick, masonry, and specialty finishes

Painting brick and masonry, applying a limewash or German smear, or repainting stucco each requires specific prep and the right primer so the coating adheres and the wall still breathes. These specialty finishes can completely transform a home's exterior, and we have the experience to execute them so they look intentional and last.

Color consultation

Color paralysis is the number-one thing that stalls a paint project. We take that off your plate with a free color consultation through our Sherwin-Williams rep, who can help you choose and coordinate colors with confidence, so you commit to a palette you will love rather than guessing and second-guessing.

Whole-home interior work

A full interior repaint is about consistency and clean lines, even coverage across every wall, crisp edges where walls meet trim and ceilings, and careful protection of your floors and furnishings. We treat your home with respect, keep the site clean, and deliver a finished interior that genuinely looks new. It is detail work as much as painting, and the care we take taping, cutting in, and protecting the home is what makes the finished rooms feel professionally done rather than rushed.

Commercial and industrial painting

Beyond homes, we paint offices, retail spaces, storefronts, and metal buildings for businesses across the area. Commercial and industrial work has its own demands, from fast, low-disruption scheduling to durable coatings on metal, and we bring the same prep-and-premium-product discipline to it that we bring to a high-end home. We schedule commercial work around your operating hours wherever we can, so a repaint refreshes the space without shutting the business down.
