Custom Kitchen Cabinets in Conroe and the Greater Houston Area

Cabinets are the single biggest thing your eye lands on in a kitchen, and the biggest driver of how the room looks, works, and lasts. Palacios Construction Group builds 100 percent custom kitchen cabinets in our own shop for homeowners across Conroe, Willis, the Lake Conroe area, and greater Houston. We do not order stock or semi-custom boxes from a catalog; we build every cabinet from scratch to the exact dimensions of your kitchen, which is the difference between a kitchen that looks assembled and one that looks crafted. They are also a part of a kitchen you touch a hundred times a day, so how well they are built shows up in your life long after the remodel photos are taken.

Why Homeowners Trust Us

Quality Work. Honest Service. Lasting Value.

Shop-built custom means you control everything that matters: the wood species, the door style, the finish, and the storage, all sized to your room down to the inch. No awkward filler strips, no wasted corners, no settling for the sizes a factory happens to make. From a full-gut kitchen to a custom island or a wall of tall pantry cabinets, the craftsmanship is furniture-grade, and the fit is exact.

We are a family company that has built in Texas since 1985, and owner Joel Palacios is involved in every project. One call reaches a real person, the estimate is free and in writing, and the work is backed by a one-year workmanship warranty. If you want kitchen cabinets that are built for your kitchen rather than bought off a shelf, this is where to start.

Why Custom Cabinets Are
Worth the Difference

Three Things That Separate Custom From Catalog

Kitchen cabinets are usually the largest line item in a remodel. Three real things make custom worth the difference over stock or semi-custom.

01

Built to your kitchen

Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes, so your kitchen works around the boxes — filler strips, dead corners, wasted inches. We build from scratch to your exact dimensions, so every inch of your kitchen does something useful.

02

The box and the finish

Cabinet longevity lives in the parts you do not see. We build with solid wood and quality plywood rather than thin particleboard, and finish with sprayed, furniture-grade coatings that hold up to a working kitchen.

03

Design freedom & storage

Because we build it, we solve your kitchen the way you actually use it — drawer banks, hidden pull-outs, tall pantries, stacked uppers to the ceiling, and inserts sized to what you store.

Our Process, Start to Finish

How We Build Your Kitchen Cabinets

From the first measurement to the installed kitchen, our process keeps the design, the materials, and the fit under our control the whole way.

01

1. Your call reaches a real person

You reach Joel or his wife directly. We learn how you use your kitchen, the look you want, and a working budget, then schedule a time to see the space and measure.

02

2. Design and material selection

We design the cabinetry for your kitchen and help you choose the wood species, door style, finish, and storage. In a full kitchen, we can model it in 3D so you see the layout before we build, and we map accurate costs.

03

3. A clear written estimate

You receive a written estimate with no hidden fees, honored for up to three months, with the cabinetry, finish, and storage laid out clearly.

04

4. Shop fabrication

We build your cabinets in our own shop, where we control the joinery, the materials, and the spray finish under clean, dust-free conditions. Building off-site is how we deliver a furniture-grade result rather than a field-assembled one.

05

5. Finishing

We finish the cabinets with the coating you have chosen, sprayed lacquer or conversion varnish for a smooth, durable surface, a color-matched stain, a glaze, or a painted finish, all done in the shop free of jobsite dust.

06

6. Installation and scribing

We install the finished cabinets and scribe them to your actual walls and floors so they sit tight and level, then set the doors, drawers, and hardware for clean, even reveals.

07

7. Final walkthrough and warranty

We walk through the finished kitchen with you, adjust every door and drawer, and make sure it is perfect. Our workmanship is backed by a one-year warranty.

Local Conditions in Montgomery County

Why Cabinetry Is Built Differently Around Lake Conroe

Our climate, soil, and the way people live here all shape how kitchen cabinetry should be built and finished. These are the realities we build around.

Gulf Coast humidity and wood movement

Wood expands and contracts with humidity, and our Gulf Coast climate is hard on poorly built or poorly finished cabinetry. Because we build in our own shop, we acclimate the lumber, choose species and constructions that handle the moisture, and apply finishes that seal the wood, so doors and drawers keep working and joints stay tight through the seasons. It is a big reason we build in a controlled shop rather than assembling raw materials in a humid, dusty kitchen where finishes never cure as cleanly.

Out-of-level kitchens on clay

Our expansive clay soils move, leaving kitchen floors and walls out of level in homes all over the county. A long run of cabinets installed against a wavy wall shows every gap. Because we build and install our own work, we scribe each cabinet to your real walls and floors so the run sits tight, level, and clean.

A culture of entertaining

Lake Conroe living revolves around hosting, and the kitchen is the hub. That is why so many of our clients want a big island with seating and a prep sink, a walk-in pantry, and storage designed for entertaining. We build cabinetry around how our clients actually cook and gather, not just how a catalog lays out a kitchen. A well-designed island and pantry do the work of furniture and a butler in one, which is why they are at the top of so many of our clients' wish lists.

Finish choices for the climate

Gulf Coast humidity is hard on cabinet finishes that were not built for it. Because we finish our cabinetry in-house, we can select coatings that hold up to the heat and moisture and cure hard for a working kitchen, so the finish stays smooth and durable rather than softening or yellowing.

Waterfront and luxury kitchens

The Walden, Bentwater, and Carlton Woods areas call for high-end kitchens with premium species, elevated door styles, and elaborate storage. These projects reward precise cabinetry and careful finishing, and they are exactly the kind of custom work our shop specializes in. On these projects, the cabinetry is the star of the room, so the species selection, grain matching, and finish detailing all get an extra level of care.

Cabinetry as part of a larger remodel

Most of our cabinetry is built within a full kitchen remodel, where it has to coordinate with the countertops, the appliances, the plumbing, and the electrical. Because we build the cabinets ourselves and manage the whole job, those trades line up cleanly instead of clashing at installation.

Pricing

How Custom Kitchen Cabinets Are Priced

Custom cabinetry is priced by the size of the kitchen, the wood species, the finish, the door style, and the storage features, so a modest galley and a large kitchen with an island and a pantry wall are very different projects. We give you an accurate written estimate after measuring and designing the cabinetry.

Free on-site estimate

We do not charge for estimates. Joel measures, helps you choose materials and finishes, and gives you a written quote at no cost and no obligation.

The biggest line item in a kitchen

Cabinetry is typically the largest single cost in a kitchen remodel, which is exactly why it deserves real thought. Custom costs more than stock, but it buys you an exact fit, better materials, a furniture-grade finish, and the storage you actually need, value you live with every day. It is also the element you are least likely to replace again soon, so getting the quality right the first time is the more economical path over the life of the kitchen.

What moves the price

The biggest drivers are the size and number of cabinets, the wood species, the finish, and the storage features. Premium hardwoods, intricate door styles, glazed or multi-step finishes, and specialty inserts all add to the investment, and we lay each one out clearly so you can build the kitchen that fits your budget.

In Practice

The Kitchen Cabinetry We Build

Here is how our custom kitchen cabinetry shows up in real projects.

Towering uppers and a custom island

On a full-gut kitchen we completed in Houston, we built towering upper cabinets stacked to the ceiling and fabricated a massive eight-foot custom center island, paired with integrated accent and task lighting and a brand-new walk-in pantry. The shop-built cabinetry was the backbone of a kitchen that completely elevated the home, and it is exactly the kind of large-scale custom work we are built for. Reaching all the way to the ceiling also reclaimed storage that a standard cabinet height would have left as dead space and a dust shelf.

A repeat client who keeps calling us back

Many of our cabinetry clients are repeat customers who first hired us for one project and came back for custom cabinets and built-ins. Cabinetry is at the heart of a kitchen remodel, and clients like Kathy are why we hold the quality where it is. (Google review)

Solving the awkward kitchen

A common reason homeowners come to us for custom is an awkward kitchen that stock cabinets simply cannot solve, an odd corner, a tricky ceiling height, or a wall that begs for a built-in pantry. Because we build to the room, we turn those problem spots into the most useful and best-looking parts of the kitchen instead of working around them.

The Expertise Behind the Work

What Goes Into Furniture-Grade Kitchen Cabinets

Custom kitchen cabinetry blends design, joinery, and finishing. Here is the expertise behind ours.

An in-house shop

We fabricate our cabinets in our own shop rather than ordering them in, and that changes everything. We control the joinery, the materials, the tolerances, and the finish, and we can solve a tricky kitchen on the bench instead of forcing it to fit a factory box. It is the difference between cabinetry made for your kitchen and cabinetry pulled from a warehouse. It also means a single team is accountable from the first cut to the final adjusted hinge, so quality never gets lost in a handoff between a factory and an installer.

Face-frame and frameless construction

We build both face-frame and frameless, or European, cabinetry, and we choose the right one for the look and function you want. Face-frame gives a classic, sturdy look, while frameless maximizes interior space and gives a clean, modern line. We pair either with solid wood or quality plywood boxes for strength that lasts in a working kitchen.

Choosing the right wood species

We work in white oak, maple, red oak, birch, and pine, among others, and each brings something different to a kitchen. White oak suits modern, on-trend designs, maple takes paint beautifully, red oak brings traditional grain, and birch and pine offer value. We help you match the species to the look, the use, and the budget.

Furniture-grade finishing

Finish is where kitchen cabinetry is tested hardest, against water, grease, and daily use. We spray lacquer and conversion varnish for a smooth, durable, factory-quality surface, and we also offer color-matched stains, glazes, and painted finishes. Finishing in the shop, free of jobsite dust, is how we deliver a flawless surface that holds up in a real kitchen. A sprayed, properly cured finish wipes clean and resists the wear that turns a cheaply finished kitchen tired and sticky within a few years.

Storage that works

Great cabinetry is as much about function as looks. We engineer the storage around what you actually own and how you cook, with pull-out shelves, deep pot drawers, trash and recycling pull-outs, tall pantries, and specialty inserts, all with soft-close hardware. The result is a kitchen where everything has a place, and nothing is wasted. The best compliment we get is when a client says their new kitchen feels twice as big, not because it grew, but because every cabinet finally earns its space.

Islands and feature cabinetry

The island is the centerpiece of most kitchens, and we build it to do real work, with integrated seating, a prep sink, hidden electrical, and finished panels on every side. We also build coffee bars, wet bars, and custom range-hood surrounds that tie the whole kitchen together as a designed piece. A custom island is also where we can be most creative, mixing a contrasting finish, a furniture-style leg, or a waterfall panel to make it the signature piece of the kitchen.

Custom versus refacing

Not every kitchen needs all-new cabinets. When the layout works and the boxes are sound, cabinet refacing or a professional repaint can refresh the kitchen for less. We are honest about when refacing is the smarter call and when full custom cabinetry is worth it, so you spend where it actually matters.
