Concrete That Moves Water the Right Way

Flat Lots, Heavy Rain, and Where the Water Goes

Spring is low, flat, and no stranger to heavy rain and flooding, and flat ground does not drain itself. A driveway or patio poured without thinking about grade can pond water, hold it against the foundation, or push it toward the house, which is the last thing you want on a lot that already struggles to shed water.

So on a Spring pour, we start with where the water needs to go. We set the slope to carry runoff away from the home, plan the base so it will not pump and settle in saturated ground, and coordinate the flatwork with the lot's drainage rather than ignoring it. On flat, wet ground, a slab poured level traps water; one graded and drained carries it away from the house. That is the whole difference on a Spring lot.
