Pinehurst homes have been here a while, and so have their driveways. The original slab, poured when the house was built, has spent decades on our clay soil, and by now it is likely cracked at the joints, sunken where the base gave way, and lifted where a tree root found it. It is not just an eyesore; a heaved slab is a trip hazard and a drainage problem. But replacing it is a different job than pouring on a bare lot.

By now the lot is settled and landscaped, with mature trees, established beds, and a lawn the owner has tended for years. Ripping out the old driveway without wrecking all of that takes planning: protecting root zones, routing the tear-out and the pour to spare the landscaping, and setting the new slab to work with roots that are not going anywhere. We take the time to do that, then build the replacement on a proper base with rebar for the clay, so the new driveway lasts as long as the last one did without repeating its mistakes.
